“Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experiences of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved.”
– Helen Adams Keller
I’m off to Hong Kong today. Why? Why not. A ferry ride, a quasi-English environment, maybe fish and chips, it’s all good. This will be my last chance to get away before school starts again. I’ll spend the morning prowling the backstreet markets of Central on Hong Kong Island and snapping away.

Hong Kong is on my list of places I’d like to visit. The dichotomy between the two photos is striking.
And now that I look again, so are the similarities.
So-called “modern” architecture (I guess I mean Bauhaus) is so hard to make intersting. The top photo is one of the better attempts. Looks kind of like stubby, interlaced fingers.
Hope the fish and chips were good.
