Yes, I’ve changed things around. Why? Because I can.
Actually, I had some unbiased feedback from web gurus. They said the content of asian ramblings was great, but the look needed some improvement. Enter the Cutline WordPress theme by Chris Pearson. I had considered a wordpress magazine theme, but there are too many to choose from. Cut a dandy piece of work, tweaked by your truly. Notice the header at the top of the page? It’s random! Changes all the time. Cool, no? I’m still tweaking the new theme. The static pages need to be fixed, and a few other odds and ends. A work in progress, much like life.
If I ever managed to learn PHP I’d love to write my own theme, from scratch. That might drive me around the bend, but it would be an excellent learning exercise. As they say: Code is Poetry.
Your feedback is appreciated. What do you think?

Re the rotating images in the customized header: very nice. Esp. for a photographer.
I use various computers to get into the blogosphere (and am often surprised in the different “looks” this gives my stuff). FWIW, the ‘puters here at work (ssh!) can’t display the whole page. I get the middle column and one or the other side. Am sure the primary one at home would show it all.
Overall, a nice clean look.

I LOVE that it does the random pictures–I’ve never gotten to look at all your stuff–and I’m a sucker for a nice white page. There’s just something about black letters on white, it was my first love.

Honestly, I think your photos are much stronger on the old format (and they deserve to be).

I like the idea of a random header! The funny thing is that I don’t usually notice the page layout, only the written content. I do that with a lot of stuff.
So I can’t really tell the difference between this one and the previous one. I only read the words and look at the pics.
It looks good now. Sorry I can’t comment on the difference between the two.

I love the random header.
I’m not sure if your photos were displayed better under the old format or not. At first I thought they might have been, but it could be that I just needed to get used to the new format.
Which I have, and I like it. Well done, Stevo.

Hey Stevo,
I like the new look. It’s crisp and clean-looking. I like the new layout, and your photos really pop. Plus it’s easier to read. The custom header is rad. I saw nothing wrong with our old layout, but this one really grabbed my attention. Mission accomplished.

Nice new look. I like the random image at the top. I’m not a huge fan of the Google ads, but that’s just me - I don’t like ads.

this seems a little cleaner, and I love the random headers. Even if you don’t have new content, I can be happy to see a new pitcha.

I am new to your blog so I don’t really know what it was like before. Really like this look though. Nice, clean, fresh, easy to follow. Will take some time to look around a bit, seems like an interesting site!
